The war has deprived us of many things, an endless list unfortunately. Yet, amidst these losses, it has underscored the importance of memory. This year, the theme of memory is central to the entries in the Ukrainian competition. It has brought together works even though their creators never coordinated on this topic and may not even know each other.
What is memory? It's the vibrant recollections of childhood and nostalgia wrapping us in a blanket of peace and joy. It's the melancholy and longing for our hometowns, now under occupation by invaders. It's the experiences and traditions of many generations guiding us through the darkest times.
Sincere and poignant works invite us to reflect on the past while instilling hope for the future."
